A few years ago, Don Pedro, his wife Anya, and their two sons were struggling to make ends meet. Faced with difficult decisions, Anya considered migrating to the U.S. in search of work, a choice that would have separated their family. But hope arrived in an unexpected form.

“I was at the farm, picking coffee, when I got a call that people were coming by my house with a new project,” Don Pedro shared. “I didn’t hesitate. I said, ‘This is God speaking.’”

Since then, light has begun to shine where there was once darkness. Through projects like composting, Don Pedro and his family have discovered new ways to thrive. “We no longer spend on chemicals. We produce compost and use it on our coffee farm. What we consume is grown with our own hands.”

Not only has their family found renewed stability, but Don Pedro has become a role model in his community. “I didn’t set out to be an example or a role model. But the truth is, it has happened. Every time I set out to do something, I ask God for guidance and invite people to see what I’m doing, so they too can take the example and apply it.”
